Structured English Immersion

Arizona Structured English Immersion Provisional/Endorsement

The State Board of Education in Arizona has mandated that on or after August 31, 2006 a Structured English Immersion Endorsement is required of all classroom teachers, supervisors, principals, and superintendents.

Chapman University College and ECC offers both the Structured English Immersion Provisional and Endorsement coursework through E-Mail Courses. These courses are approved by the State Board of Education in Arizona. Please refer to their website for approved higher learning institutes. All courses must be on the Arizona English Acquisition SEI Approval List.

Please refer to the Arizona State Department of Education for all requirements for the provisional and endorsement.

EDUC 9512B Structured English Immersion Methods I satisfies the requirements for the 1 semester hour or 15 clock hours of professional development in Structured English Immersion methods of teaching ELL students.

EDUC 9611B Structured English Immersion II satisfies the requirements for the 3 semester hours of courses or forty-five clock hours of professional development in the teaching of the English Language Learner Proficiency Standards adopted by the State Board of Education.

A total of four semester hours or 60 clock hours are required for partial fulfillment of the SEI Endorsement.

The total tuition for EDUC 9512B Structured English Immersion Methods I (1 credit hour) is $165.00.

The total tuition for EDUC 9611B Structured English Immersion II ( 3 credit hours) is $485.00
